Here’s Why No One Is Engaging With Your Social Media Giveaways

To be successful, your brand’s social media strategy needs to be multifaceted. As well as mastering cross-platform content and regular uploads, you’ll need to become a pro at reels, socialisation, and metrics. Amongst all of that, 32.5% of brands also find the time to organize a giveaway every single month!

Giveaways that encourage audiences old and new to interact with and share your brand provide one of the best ways to promote your social media. At least, that’s the plan. But, what happens if your giveaways are barely getting the attention to justify the prizes on offer?

Simple steps, like ensuring giveaways that run across platforms, can help here. But fixing the problem ultimately requires you to consider whether you’re making the following mistakes.

# 1 – The Prize Problem

The power of your giveaway rests on the power of your prize. If you’re offering a lacklustre prize, such as a piece of merch, you’re simply not going to get the level of interaction that you want. After all, why should customers care about getting a branded cap? They just won’t!

That’s not to say that there isn’t a place for high-quality merch as offered by companies like We Promote You in your giveaway package. But, your more brand-specific merchandise should sit alongside a prize offering that has more benefit for the customer, such as a free product, or even a cash prize. This way, your giveaway is far more likely to reach a wide-ranging audience that might not have even heard of your brand before.

# 2 – Complicated Entry Expectations

Remember – your competition will ideally reach a sizable audience of relevant individuals who have never heard of you before. If they have to jump through hoops and do a backflip just to enter your giveaway, they’re unlikely to bother.

That’s why you always need to keep those entry requirements at a doable, simple level. Typically, that may mean requiring people to like your post, tag a friend, and repost your upload to their stories. These are things that even busy audiences can manage, and they all have the benefit of getting your brand seen without off-putting complications.

# 3 – A Lack of Momentum

It can be embarrassing to push your brand too hard on social media, and, actually, you may lose followers if you’re solely posting about your giveaway every single second. But, you also shouldn’t make the mistake of posting about a giveaway once and expecting that to be enough.

After all, from a marketing perspective, giveaways are great because they tap into everything from general hype to scarcity marketing. So, lean into that by posting about your giveaway on stories, reels, etc. at least once daily for the duration, perhaps with countdowns included to really hammer the point home and keep engagement high. Simply intersperse these updates with your usual content to keep audiences interested.

Social media giveaways should be a sure way to boost your following. If that’s not happening right now, then rectify these mistakes and give it another try!
